Resting at Home

Generally, the stuffy nose was caused by a cold. Colds are caused by a virus and are highly infectious. When you or your child are exposed to a cold, it would be better to stay home, because if you still perform the usual activities, the cold will get worse. If you have not got a cold yet, don’t get to close to a cold sufferer.

Enough Sleep

Sleep enough and give your body a chance to get new energy in fighting colds. For children, sleeping during the day may not be pleasant so please provide a variety of interesting toys, so children can play while trying to go to sleep.

Eat Fruit

While you are resting at home, you should not eat too much. It’s better to eat fruit or juice. By eating a lot of fruit, your body will get a lot of vitamins that are useful for strengthening the immune system. Also, you have to avoid foods that contain a lot of sugar such as chocolate, cake, ice cream and so on because excessive sugar levels will decrease the body’s resistance against infection.

Drinking a lot

To wash away the virus from the body, drink plenty of drinking water. Adults can drink 10 glasses per day while children can drink approximately five glasses a day. If you can, please drink water or juice every hour, and you should avoid drinking cold water.

Gargle with a warm salt solution

This method can only be used for adults. Sometimes a cold begins with discomfort in the throat. Gargle with a salt solution at least three times a day. Mix ½ teaspoon salt with a glass of warm water. Let the water flow into the throat for a few seconds and then gargle a bit.

Neck compression

Compress your neck with a cloth that has been soaked in warm water. You can do this to a sleeping child, and this can also be done for adults after gargling with salt water.

Foot Soaking In Hot Water

If a cold begins with symptoms of headache, your nose will leak. This must be addressed, because you may experience a fever. A good treatment is to soak your feet in warm water. Do it twice a day, morning and evening. Soaking your feet in warm water will increase the flow of blood to the head so that the headaches will decrease.

Inhaling Steam Heat

Inhaling steam will help loosen and open the clogged nasal tract. Do it twice a day. Place hot water in a container, bring your face near the container and breathe fumes.

Drinking lemon and honey

Use only natural ingredients to minimize the risk of chemical side effects. Prepare lemon and one tablespoon of honey. Squeeze the lemon and put the juice into a glass of water with one tablespoon of honey in it. Then stir until well blended and then drink it. Do it twice a day at morning and evening.
